Biography

Dr. Furst started her career in health care at the age of 16 when she became a CNA at a local nursing home in the evenings. She detoured from nursing and received an associates degree in pharmacology went to work as a certified pharmacy technician (CPhT) at the local hospital. Dr. Furst returned to school earning a BSN from UMHB (part of the Baylor University system in Texas). Her clinical experience includes cardiology, critical care, case management, and clinical education. Later, she earning her MSN and PhD online. Dr. Furst began teaching in a traditional ADN program in 2005 and now teaches online with students pursuing bachelors, masters, and DNP degrees. Dr. Furst enjoys spending time with family including her five children and five grandchildren. She also enjoys camping and traveling around the United States.
