Biography

Dr. Sonia Miller is a resident of northern Virginia. She received both her Doctorate of Education with specialization in Curriculum and Instruction (EDD/CI) and her Masters of Science for Nursing (MSN) from the University of Phoenix (UOP). Dr. Miller received her Bachelors of Science for Nursing (BSN) from the University of South Carolina (USC). She is currently teaching Bachelors and Masters level nursing courses at the American Sentinel University (ASU). Dr. Miller is employed as a Nurse Specialist for the Department of Defense and as such provide consultative services for health care facilities located throughout the eastern region. Dr. Miller is a strong advocate for continued learning and education to uphold standards and guidelines in support of evidenced-based practices. She encourages students to excel and pursue their goals. Her professional interests focus on the field of infection prevention and control, and the encouragement of higher-learning and its application. Dr. Miller is listed as a contributing author or editor on research articles and Professional texts, such as, APIC, Infection Control and Hospital Epidemiology, ProQuest and PLOS ONE. She is also a long-standing member of the Association of Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) and holds her Certification in Infection Control (CIC).
