Biography

Dr. Christi Doherty holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in Educational Leadership from American Sentinel University. She holds a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Regis University in Denver, Colorado with a post-graduate certificate in Healthcare Education, and Associate of Applied Science (AAS) from Grayson County College in Denison, Texas. Additionally, Dr. Doherty has earned a Certificate in Healthcare Informatics from the University of Minnesota. Dr. Doherty’s clinical experience is in labor & delivery, pediatrics, legal consulting, and emergency nursing. She has also served in a nursing management role. She is a Certified Inpatient Obstetrics Nurse and a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE). Prior to joining the faculty at American Sentinel, Dr. Doherty taught for a number of years in a prelicensure nursing program mastering hybrid, online, and clinical settings, with expertise in curriculum development and evaluation of student outcomes. She has been the Project Director of a Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) grant focused on high-fidelity simulation experiences. She is a published author with works including a journal article in Nurse Educator and nursing textbooks with F.A. Davis Publishing Company. Dr. Doherty is a member of National League for Nursing (NLN), Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI), American Nurses Association (ANA), and American Nursing Informatics Association (ANIA).
