Biography

My name is Barbara Brophy (rhymes with trophy) and I've been a nurse for 25 years, with the majority of that in Women's Health (Obstetrics), but also in Nursery, Pediatrics, Med-Surg and Emergency Medicine. I truly love all the areas of nursing I have worked in and I find the nursing career so interesting and adaptable because of the opportunity to learn new things and try different roles. Five years of my experience was in nursing management and 6 years has been in teaching (which I LOVE). I began my career as an LVN (LPN everywhere but Texas) in 1992, then my ADN in 1999. I received my BSN in 2003, MSN in 2005, and an MHA in 2009. I completed my DNP in 2017 and I’m done!!! I have two grown daughters and two grandsons here in Texas (and recently found out another is coming in August, 2018). My husband (who passed away in 2016) has two grown sons and we have five grandchildren in Nova Scotia, Canada. Reading is my passion. I have no less than three books going at any given time and the subjects range from romance, biographies and history - all over the place.
