Biography

Dr. Heimgartner has been a licensed registered nurse since 1998. Dr. Heimgartner holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Spalding University, a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Phoenix, and a Doctor of Nursing practice with emphasis in educational leadership from American Sentinel University. Clinically, Dr. Heimgartner is an expert in cardiovascular and community health nursing. Dr. Heimgartner has taught prelicensure and post licensure nursing since 2003 and is certified in online instruction. She is a published author and editor, a regular podium and poster presenter in numerous nationally recognized nursing and nursing education venues, and a member of Sigma Theta Tau. Dr. Heimgartner has a passion for engaging nursing students and connecting them to evidence-based needs that exist currently in practice. In addition to teaching, Dr. Heimgartner serves as an educational consultant, partnering with institutions to strengthen nursing programs, faculty, and students via support with program evaluation, accreditation, curriculum design, NCLEX success, and faculty development strategies.
