Biography

Dr. Laubenstein has been a nurse since 1992 and has been teaching nursing since 2015. She has experience in Family Medicine, Gerontology, Infection Control, and Wound Care. Her research interests include gerontology, end-of-life care, and anxiety disorders. She is an established podium presenter on end-of-life care, advance directives, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. She is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She became a nurse because of the way a nurse treated her when, as a child she had to have a medical procedure without any family around. The nurse provided comfort and made sure she was never left alone. She chose to be a nurse educator because she wants students to understand that nursing is more than a job, it is a passion. She is proud to be a part of the process that assist students in realizing their career goals. She values fairness, compassion, respect, trust, mutual learning, and contribution. Personally, she is married and has 6 children. She and her husband enjoy going to craft fairs, art shows, and county fairs. In addition, they love gardening and plant a large vegetable garden every spring. Each year they attend the Florida strawberry festival and buy fresh strawberries to make their popular homemade jam. “If you want to change the world, pick up your pen and write” (Martin Luther).
