Biography

Ernest Clement has been a registered nurse for over 35 years. He has experience in inpatient and outpatient oncology nursing and was an oncology certified nurse. For the past 16 years he has worked in infection control for a community hospital and then at the NYS Department of Health. He is board certified in infection control through CBIC. At the NYSDOH, Mr. Clement is responsible for providing technical expertise assistance for statewide investigations into healthcare facility-associated outbreaks such as legionellosis, influenza, hepatitis B virus, hepatitis C virus, and prion diseases as well as infection control breaches. He serves as subject matter expert for the NYSOne & Only Campaign(safe injections) and assists the Department in developing statewide policies and regulations. He also supervises the administration of the NYSDOH’s portion of the Infection Control and Barrier Precautions training program. Ernie is also an adjunct nursing instructor at Hudson Valley Community College, Excelsior College, and American Sentinel College of Nursing and Health Sciences of Post University.
