Biography
Cherie R. Rebar, PhD, MBA, RN, COI, is a resident of Ohio and has been a licensed registered nurse since 1995. Dr. Rebar holds an ASN from Kettering College, a baccalaureate degree in education from Morehead State University, an MSN and MBA from the University of Phoenix, a post-master’s certificate in Family Nurse Practitioner studies from the UMass Boston, a post-master's certificate in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner studies from the University of Cincinnati, and a doctorate in psychology from Northcentral University. A member of Sigma Theta Tau and multiple professional nursing organizations, Dr. Rebar has taught prelicensure and postlicensure nursing since 2005. She began teaching in the K-12 setting in 1988, so the migration to becoming a faculty member after years of professional clinical nursing practice was a natural transition. She is a tenured professor of nursing at Wittenberg University, an adjunct professor at several institutions of higher education, a curriculum designer for multiple national nursing programs, and a former Director and Chair of Nursing programs. Her clinical interests and practice include psychiatric mental health, emergency, population health, and medical surgical nursing. Dr. Rebar is a published author and editor of nursing textbooks such as Medical-Surgical Nursing: Concepts for Interprofessional Collaborative Care (10th edition) by Ignatavicius, Workman, Rebar, & Heimgartner; contributor to Quality Matters within the Academy for Medical Surgical Nurses’ MedSurg journal; podium presenter for numerous nationally recognized professional nursing organizations; and strong advocate for lifelong learning. Dr. Rebar's favorite roles are that of wife, mother, and friend. She is an avid iced coffee drinker, a big fan of Bands of America ("Music for Everyone") and Drum Corps International, and a dedicated follower of University of Kentucky basketball. Her favorite place to be is the ocean (it doesn't matter which one), and she is a Ravenclaw at heart. Her best buddy is her 11-year old rescue dog, Flash the Basset Hound. It is debatable whether Dr. Rebar rescued Flash, or Flash rescued Dr. Rebar.
