Biography

Dr. Kristen Kaiafas started working for American Sentinel College of Nursing & Health Sciences at Post University in January 2019 in the RN to BSN SIMPath program. She began her medical career as a health care specialist/military medic in the Army Reserves from 2002-2009 and deployed in support of Operation Joint Guardian. Throughout her career, she engaged in educating military medics, emergency nurses, and nursing students. She graduated in 2007 with an associate degree in nursing and spent her career as a Certified Emergency Nurse and Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse working in the community emergency department followed by the military health care facility. Between 2007-2012 she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Soon after completing her BSN, she started teaching in the clinical setting for the practical nursing program. She returned to school from 2013-2016 to complete her master’s degree in nursing education. In 2017 Dr. Kaiafas once again returned to school and completed her Doctorate of Nursing Practice at Liberty University graduating in 2020. She was the recipient of the Army Commendation Medal and the Army Achievement Medal in 2005. She was the recipient of the Army Civilian Achievement Medal in 2011 and 2017. In 2018, she was the guest speaker for Fayetteville Technical Community College nursing pinning ceremony. She has worked for Fayetteville Technical Community College from 2013-present in both the Practical Nursing Program and currently in the Associate Degree Nursing Program. She resides in North Carolina with her family and two dogs. She enjoys hiking, running, and engaging in lifelong learning.
