Biography

Dr. Jill Wright is an experienced faculty member and college administrator who has worked in college and university systems since 1989. After completing her Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in English at Eureka College, Dr. Wright entered graduate school at Central Missouri State University (University of Central Missouri), with a focus in American Literature. After her first year of graduate studies, she transferred her graduate major to Rhetoric and Composition. She completed her Master in Arts degree and her Philosophy Doctorate at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. While in graduate school, Dr. Wright worked for the MEDPREP Program at Southern Illinois University, “a nationally renowned post-baccalaureate academic enhancement program which provides assistance to educationally and/or economically disadvantaged students, preparing them to achieve success in the health professions.” Immediately after finishing graduate school, Dr. Wright worked in a corporate environment directing professional and executive training and development programs for LR Nelson in Peoria, Illinois. While working in the corporate environment Dr. Wright joined Illinois Central College as an adjunct faculty member. She joined the ranks of tenured faculty and began in administration shortly after securing academic tenure. Dr. Wright has 30 years of experience in higher education with a concentration in teaching business writing, technical writing, and composition. She is also a peer reviewer with over 15 years of experience with Higher Learning Commission. She has been trained as a Six Sigma Blackbelt using the change management program developed by Caterpillar Corporation. She is currently serving as Assistant Vice President of Assessment, Accreditation and Services at Illinois Central College, where she has worked for the past 22 years.
