Biography
Dr. Newell is a seasoned nursing leader who has worked in the acute care setting, including surgical services leadership and hospital administration. She has taught graduate and undergraduate courses at traditional and online universities such as University of Illinois at Chicago, Moraine Valley University and DeVry University. Most recently, she was the Specialty Director of Perioperative Services since the early 2000s. Dr. Newell researches patient safety and quality and completed her dissertation on team dynamics and patient safety. She has taught courses in health sciences and health care management (managed care, leadership, human resources, organizational systems, finance of health care organizations, quality, ethics and research), and nursing (policy, leadership and advanced theory).
