Biography

Ms. Thomas has a breadth of health care, administration, and teaching experience spanning over her 17 years as an RN. As a staff nurse, she worked in cardiac, surgical, and ambulatory care units. In addition, she served as director of university health services and as an Assistant Professor of Nursing, BSN Program at Nicholls State University. Ms. Thomas also has worked as an effective joint commission compliance coordinator at Natchitoches Regional Medical Center. In the past, she taught in BSN, RN-BSN, and MSN programs via the classroom, laboratory, clinical, and online formats. She has also taught for online nursing programs at Nicholls State University, Loyola University, and Linfield College. She is a member of the National League of Nursing. Her research interests include mentoring and peer-teaching learning in which she has published her research. In addition, she has interests in simulation use in the online environment, faculty online orientation and development, nursing curriculum development, and connectedness within the nurse-patient relationship.
