Biography

Dr. Meeks began her nursing career as an LPN and worked in a long-term care setting while obtaining her ADN. After becoming an RN, she worked as a dialysis nurse and office nurse for a group of nephrologists and rheumatologists. During this time, Dr. Meeks began teaching clinicals for LPN students at a community college. She later returned to the hospital setting and worked on a pediatric unit and as an on-call hospice nurse, working with patients and families as they transitioned into hospice and finished their days with dignity and quality care. Dr. Meeks was a full-time instructor for the practical nursing program at Kaplan University in Cedar Falls, Iowa, serving as lead instructor for courses on nursing fundamentals, chronic med/surg and ethics and professionalism. After four years of teaching, Dr. Meeks took over as the director of nursing for the program, helping raise students' NCLEX pass rates to at or above the national average and developing the nursing program overall. Prior to joining American Sentinel, Dr. Meeks rolled out an ADN program at Kaplan and served as director of nursing for the PN and ADN programs.
